For the moment before the music

The hardest part can be
the first four bars.

You have time to make music. You open a session. Then comes the question: where do I start?

MotifPilot gives you something to respond to: a progression to follow, a bassline to change, a melody to take somewhere else. A small musical starting point can unlock the next decision.

Sketch on your phone when you’re away from your setup. Explore a different direction when a session stalls. Bring the notes back when you’re ready to choose sounds, build an arrangement, and make it your own.

A short path from blank to building

Give it a direction.
Follow what you hear.

You make the musical choices. MotifPilot gives you material to work with.

01 / SET THE DIRECTION

Start with a feeling.

Pick a style, key, scale, and tempo. Set the length of your sketch, then adjust the density, swing, and humanize controls to explore its feel.

From a few choices to a first sketch
02 / LISTEN & SHAPE

Find something worth keeping.

Hear the parts together. Mute or solo a track, replace a chord, or edit the notes. Use Next idea when you want another starting point.

Try a direction. Undo. Try another.
03 / MAKE IT YOURS

Take the idea into your track.

Save a sketch in your local Library. Export its MIDI, open it in a compatible DAW, and give each part your own instruments and arrangement.

Your notes. Your sounds. Your next move.

What’s happening under the hood

Four parts.
A shared musical frame.

MotifPilot’s local rules use your settings and a common harmony to build the sketch. Chords establish the foundation; bass, arpeggio, and melody develop around it. Rhythm and humanize controls shape how the notes move.

You guide the engine with musical controls. You can hear the result and edit the notes before exporting.

Chords set the foundation.

The harmonic progression gives the other parts a common direction. Change a chord to explore a different color.

Move a note. Change its length or velocity. Try a simpler or more rhythmic variation. Undo and redo let you explore without losing your way.

From pocket sketch to studio session

The notes come with you.
The sound is up to you.

MIDI carries musical instructions: which notes play, when they start, how long they last, and their velocity. Choose instruments in your DAW to turn those notes into your sound.

Before you start

A few good
questions.

Who is MotifPilot for?

Producers and songwriters who want a musical starting point they can change. It’s useful when you’re staring at an empty session, testing a new direction, or sketching away from your studio.

Does it make a finished song?

It creates a MIDI sketch for you to develop. You can preview and edit the notes in the app; choosing final sounds, arranging, mixing, and finishing the track happens in your music workflow.

Is this AI or a prompt-based generator?

MotifPilot uses a local, rule-driven music engine. You choose musical settings such as style, harmony, and rhythm; it generates editable notes on your device. You don’t need to write a prompt or wait for a cloud model.

Can I use the MIDI in my DAW?

Export the combined sketch or individual active parts as Standard MIDI, then import them into a DAW that supports MIDI files. Assign instruments there. Import behavior varies by app and device; see the compatibility guide for details.

Do I need an account or a subscription?

No account is required. MotifPilot is a paid app with no subscription. Your project Library stays on the device. Check the App Store for today’s price in your region.

Which devices can I use?

MotifPilot is available for iPhone and iPad. Check the App Store listing for current device and operating-system requirements before purchasing.
